How do I make my nail polish stop peeling?

I've never really had any issues with my nail polish chipping, but it peels like crazy. It comes off in one big whole strip, just like a band-aid! I think its in part because I have to use three coats: one coat of nail growth treatment, then two coats of color. I need the growth treatment, it helps sooooo much, and I know using one thick coat of color is just going to make it peel easier. So is there any way I can make it stop peeling? How do I make my nail polish stop peeling?

Ok..your nails are probably oily and that is what is causing the lifting.

You need to try these couple of things. Prep the nail plate by taking a cotton ball with alcohol and cleaning off nail plate. This removes all oils and depletes the oils which cause lifting.

You need to avoid contact with skin tissue around the nail plate ...because oils seep under the polish and causes lifting.

There is also a skin called a teringium that is sometimes stuck to the nail plate...around the cuticle area....this needs to be loosened and or removed to prevent skins oils from accumulating.

There is a great...fantastic product by CNL called Sticky. When applied as a base coat is sticky...and it adheres the polish to the nail plate better.

Use fresh polish...and store your polish in the refrig...the coolness keeps polish from thickening....

Top coat is another protective coat that can make your polish last a lot longer....

Try these things and see if they resolve the issues you are having.

I hope my answers are useful to you and good luck!!How do I make my nail polish stop peeling?
Sounds like you need to put on a base coat %26amp; a top coat. OPI is a great brand to use, base %26amp; top coat come in the same bottle. It makes my nail polish stay on weeks %26amp; it never peels off. Use the nail growth stuff then put the OPI stuff overtop %26amp; then apply your nail polish. Also try to use a better brand of nail polish, it makes a big difference.
rub nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol on your nails, because it gets rid of any oils on your nail, which make the polish peel.
Try using Sally Hansen clear coat on top once your other polish dries. (I buy it at a drug store or WalMart). Its fairly cheap and it really helps your nails if you continue to use it.
clear on top and good polish, not cheap

mine?

If you put on a clear coding after the colored nail polish is dry it won't peel off as fast
Use high quality nail polish and then put a good top coat over it.
dont use the nail growth and use two coats of color, then a thin clear top coat...hope this helps...also sally hanson makes a cuticle pen that puts moisture all around the nail bed and I love it..
use a reallly good top coat over the color.

And dont get cheap nail poilish

  • How do you prevent your nail polish from peeling off when you put on a manicure strip?

I recently started doing nail art where you paint a layer, let it dry, put on the manicure nail strips to make a pattern, and then paint over the pattern with a contrasting color. Problem is when I lift off the strips, the first color peels off with it. How do I stop this from happening? How do you prevent your nail polish from peeling off when you put on a manicure strip?

Daughter has finger nails peeling from nail bed?

My 4 year old has 3 fingernails that have started to separate and peel from the nail bed. My kids had hand foot and mouth about 6 wks ago and since then she picks her dead skin -- from the blisters. Now she is picking off the top part of her nail that has separated. Her thumb nail is now all lumpy and bumpy like when someone loses a nail. I am hoping she is not going to end up with a bunch of lumpy bumpy nails.

Has anyone seen anything like this before???Daughter has finger nails peeling from nail bed?
I would take her to a dermatologist right away.Daughter has finger nails peeling from nail bed?
It's a side effect from the hand foot and Mouth disease, this happened to my son also, We took him to the pediatrician because his nails were coming off, his doctor didn't know the cause at the time but then contacted me with some Literature which said it was a side effect from the virus.

Get acrylic nails, professionally , I've met so many people who have them because they bite their nails. How can i stop chewing my nails and peeling nail polish off?
    Method 1:

MAVALA Stop! It's a clear nail polish that has a very distinct bitter taste to it. as soon as you start to bite the taste takes makes you not to. its called MAVALA Stop and yo can get it at a drug store like rite aid or somthing.

    Method 2:

if you have money get acrylic nails. That's how I broke my nail biting habbit. Acrylics make it so your nails aren't there for you to bite, therefor your desire to bite them is not there. but you have to maintain them for however long it takes for you to not have the desire to bite them on your own and without the acrylics.

    Method 3:

you can try putting some type of dark colored ink on them that washes off easily. So if you bite your nails the ink will be transfered to your mouth. knowing this should prevent you from putting your fingers in your mouth because you don't want to look like an idiot with ink all over your mouth. the only problem with this is you might have to reapply the ink after washing hands.

    Method 4:

Keep your hands busy. Carry a little container of play dough or string to make lanyards or a game boy or anything that will keep your hands busy. Keep it in your pocket or purse and have it with you at all times. Unless your hands are busy with something, like writing, typing, eating, etc...you can keep them busy with silly putty or whatever you choose.

    Method 5:

wear mittens or gloves! i guess this one would only work if it is cold out

    Method 6:

Chew gum! your mouth will be busy chewing gum which will make you less likely to start chewing on your nails
Try chewing gum to keep your teeth busy. You could also put Tabasco or a little bit of a type of drink you hate in your nail polish. If neither of these suggestions help, try putting petroleum jelly, hairspray, soap, or clear coat nail polish over your painted nails. These things will taste horrible, which will make you want to stop biting. If you find yourself biting them, put another coat on. If there's still no luck, buy fake nails. You'll have to keep paying and paying for more if you keep biting. Finally you'll realize that by bitig you are losing money.
I have the same problem...I CAN'T stop. I've tried, it doesn't work. The only option for me is getting fake nails put on. I'm doomed to paying a nail salon for the rest of my life. Lol
I used to have the same problem!

you can buy special nail polish that has a really bad taste when you try to bite your nails. it really works!

    good luck
Get acrylic nails they help a lot I had that problem too but with acrylic nails it's hard to chew on them -ash
    Chewing Gum!!!

That's how one of my really good friends stopped.
It's way old fashioned, but my mom put hot sauce in nail polish. It might help for the chewing
put some hot sauce on them and it has to be hot
chew gum. or other random objects
