if ur seeing a doctor, then why ask? What can cause peeling of nail bed if not a fungus?

Possibly a Staph infection. Staphylococcus aureus is a nasty little bacteria that can be responsible. It produces hyaluronidase which breaks apart your tissues and exfoliatin which is responsible for breakdown of skin. In any case you should really see a doctor to have it cultured. Until then try to clean it very well with soap and water and use some kind of triple antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) to try and get rid of the bacteria. But I seriously recommend seeking professional help.
